Dryer

SERVICE OVERVIEW

Clothing should always be well dried, but sometimes the temperature in the dryer increases too fast. The result of this drying can be from burnt clothes to a fire in the house.

The most common mechanical problems of dryers are as follows:

Sometimes a defect in the heating element of an electric dryer can lead to its escape from control. This can happen with a partial short circuit in the element, which causes it to continuously produce heat.
Dryers are provided with a constant air exchange for efficient operation. Hot and humid air should constantly go out, and fresh should be absorbed inside. If an obstacle in the ventilation system restricts air access, the result will be a build-up of heat in the drum. When this happens it is necessary to check the air ducts. Sometimes a reduction in the airflow can be the result of a mechanical problem, rather than interference in the ventilation system. This can occur in the event of a blower fan failure. If it does not develop the desired speed, the dryer will be too hot.
Most dryers have a thermostat to maintain the proper level of heat. If the thermostat is defective, this may lead to a “hot” start of the dryer. It is possible that in the drum a too cold air can appear, which does not dry the laundry. In this case, there is only one solution – to replace the thermostat.
Most dryers consist of a felt sealant between the drum and the front and rear walls. It is designed to prevent clothing from being caught when the drum is spinning. The sealant also maintains heat that is inside. When the sealant material begins to wear out, the heat can drain from the drum to the internal structure of the dryer. If this happens, the thermostat will perceive the loss of heat from the drum as a signal for greater heating and, as a result, there will be a strong temperature rise in the dryer.
